This framework establishes the admission rules and requirements for candidates applying to IUS double diploma programs — setting out how applicants are classified by citizenship, the academic thresholds they must meet, the examinations accepted for admission, and the additional criteria that apply to the Faculty of Medical Sciences.

Candidates with Bosnian & Herzegovinian Citizenship

Admission requirements for BiH citizens

Bosnian and Herzegovinian citizens applying to double diploma programs are governed by the applicable annual public call, program-specific protocols, and defined academic thresholds.

Governing framework

Admission of Bosnian citizens to double diploma programs conducted in cooperation with Istanbul Technical University, Marmara University and Istanbul University is governed by the applicable annual public call for admission published by the International University of Sarajevo and the respective Double Diploma Program Protocol.

Admission to programs conducted in cooperation with Health Sciences University is governed by the applicable annual public call for admission published by IUS and the Guide for Selection, Scholarship and Placement Examination for Bosnian Students Applying to Undergraduate Joint Programs (UOLP) in Medicine and Dental Medicine.

Minimum CGPA threshold

Candidates with Bosnian citizenship are entitled to apply for double diploma programs conducted in cooperation with Istanbul Technical University, Marmara University and Istanbul University, provided their high school graduation score (CGPA) is at least 3.0/5.0 (or equivalent). The threshold for double diploma programs at the Faculty of Medical Sciences is 3.5/5.0 (or equivalent).

Conditional admission

If a candidate's high school diploma has not yet been issued or their graduation grade point average has not yet been calculated, they will be granted conditional admission and registration will be completed subject to this condition. These candidates must sign an additional letter of undertaking during registration.

Candidates with Turkish Citizenship

Admission requirements for Turkish citizens

Admission for Turkish citizens is primarily governed by the central Turkish Higher Education Exam (YKS). This document sets out the exceptional cases in which Turkish citizens may apply under the Bosnian student admission framework.

The admission of candidates with Turkish citizenship to double diploma programs is governed by the central Turkish Higher Education Exam (YKS). This document defines the exceptional cases.

Exceptional application route

Applicants who are citizens of the Republic of Türkiye or who hold dual citizenship, one of which is Turkish, may apply to double diploma undergraduate programs conducted in cooperation with Istanbul Technical University, Marmara University, and Istanbul University, provided that they:

— meet the admission requirements for Bosnian Students established by IUS, and

— have completed the entirety of their secondary education at high schools located outside the Republic of Türkiye, excluding high schools located in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Quota cap · 10%

The number of admitted applicants in this category shall not exceed 10% of the quota designated for Bosnian students determined by IUS for the relevant double diploma program.

International Candidates

Admission requirements for international candidates

International candidates apply based on their high school certificate or an accepted standardized examination. The following rules and score thresholds apply.

Balkan citizens — classification

For admission purposes, applicants who are citizens of Balkan countries — Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Albania — shall be classified as international students and shall be subject to the same admission category and tuition fees as Bosnian students.

Other Provisions

Additional requirements

All double diploma candidates must meet the following additional provisions concerning academic equivalency and English language proficiency.

High school equivalency certificate

All candidates admitted to the double diploma program at IUS who completed their secondary education at high schools located outside the Republic of Türkiye are required to submit a high school equivalency certificate prior to registration.

English language proficiency

All double diploma candidates must satisfy the English language proficiency requirements at IUS or at the respective partner institutions.

Specific admission requirements applicable to the Faculty of Medical Sciences at IUS are organized into three applicant categories, each with distinct admission routes and interview requirements.

Before Final Enrollment

All non-Turkish students must submit an Equivalence Certificate confirming that their high school diploma is accepted in Türkiye. Obtained from a Turkish Embassy, Consulate, or Provincial Directorate of National Education.
