IRO Marks its 4th Year in Business

The International Relations Office of the International University of Sarajevo started with its active work in July 2014.

In the last four years, IRO has concluded a large number of agreements on cooperation with numerous European universities in order to enhance and facilitate exchange of students and staff.

During this period, more than 600 incoming and outgoing students, academic and administrative staff have taken part in the exchange either through Erasmus+ or Mevlana programs, individual memorandums of understanding or individual exchange. The cooperation spans from Turkey to France, Luxemburg, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Morocco, Iran, Malaysia and USA.

Our students and staff gained the opportunity to study, teach, do research and pursue continuous professional development at their host universities. At the same time, we hosted a large number of guests from our partner universities. All our efforts were focused on ensuring optimum study and work conditions for them at the IUS campus as well as organizing educational, cultural, touristic events both in Sarajevo and the cities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Despite the importance of the academic success, it is the cultural and social aspects of exchange that are seen as the utmost important contribution of student mobility. Meeting new cultures, learning foreign languages, socializing with new people, gaining new experiences, becoming more independent and finally building new friendships - are features that have left an indelible mark on the lives of young people.

We are very proud of our results and the international success that we have achieved, and we can undoubtedly say that the active IUS participation in student and staff mobility has significantly contributed to the boosting of internationalization and climb in the rankings of the University. At the moment, IUS is one of the top universities in BiH in the exchange numbers.

Pursuing our strategic goals, we will continue negotiating new cooperation and opening new horizons for university cooperation on the international level and will keep on sending IUS Ambassadors all around the globe.
